Step-by-step supplications for Ihram, Tawaf, Sa'i, Zamzam and completing your Umrah — Arabic with English translation.
Before entering Ihram, make your intention for Umrah:
“Here I am, O Allah, for Umrah.”
Then recite the Talbiyah:
“Here I am, O Allah, here I am. Here I am, You have no partner, here I am. Indeed, all praise, blessings and sovereignty belong to You. You have no partner.”
Repeat the Talbiyah frequently until you reach the Kaaba and begin Tawaf.
Enter with your right foot and say:
“In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy.”
There is no authentically established specific dua that must be recited when seeing the Kaaba for the first time. You can make any sincere dua you wish. For example:
“O Allah, I ask You for Your pleasure and Paradise, and I seek refuge in You from Your anger and the Fire.”
Stand facing the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad). If you can reach it safely without pushing or harming others, you may kiss it. Otherwise, simply point toward it and say:
“In the name of Allah, Allah is the Greatest.”
Then begin Tawaf.
There is no authentic dua assigned to each individual round. You can make dua in Arabic, Urdu, English, or any language you understand. You can ask Allah for:
A beautiful general dua:
“Our Lord, give us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.”
Between the Yemeni Corner and the Black Stone — this is a particularly established supplication (same dua as above).
When you reach the Black Stone again, say:
and begin the next round. Repeat until you complete 7 rounds.
Pray two Rak‘ahs if possible, preferably behind Maqam Ibrahim, without obstructing people. You can recite قُلْ يَا أَيُّهَا الْكَافِرُونَ in the first Rak‘ah and قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ in the second. Then make dua.
Before drinking:
“In the name of Allah.”
Then drink Zamzam and make whatever dua you wish. A commonly recited supplication is:
“O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, abundant provision, and healing from every illness.”
At Safa, face the Kaaba, raise your hands, then say:
“There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. To Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs all praise, and He is over all things capable. There is no god but Allah alone. He fulfilled His promise, helped His servant, and defeated the confederates alone.”
You can repeat this three times, making personal dua between repetitions.
There is no specific authentic dua for each of the seven trips. Make whatever dua you want while walking. For example:
“My Lord, forgive me, have mercy upon me, guide me, and provide for me.”
“Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.”
Between Safa and Marwah: Men should walk briskly between the two green markers; women walk normally. Continue making dua, dhikr and reciting Qur'an.
When you reach Marwah, do the same type of dhikr and dua you did at Safa:
Make your personal dua. Remember: Safa → Marwah = 1 trip, and Marwah → Safa = 2. Complete 7 trips, finishing at Marwah.
After completing Sa'i, men shave (Halq) or shorten (Qasr) their hair. Shaving is more virtuous according to the hadith. Women shorten a small amount of their hair. You can make this dua:
“O Allah, accept my Umrah and forgive my sins.”
Then your Umrah is complete.
If you don’t want to memorize dozens of duas, focus on these:
